Creatively restless and endlessly
experimenting in style and media, Jay Koka continues to explore two style
extremes
realism and impressionism ... both existing side by side in his
body of work
with the result that each new showing of his work is a
genuine surprise.
A highly realistic style and a somewhat technical
approach garnered Koka a large and loyal audience for his exquisitely rendered
work over the first decade of his painting career. In the mid 90's however, he
embarked on a dramatic and some said even 'shocking' change in art style.
Small, often tightly rendered gouache works were replaced by large canvases
with a notable disregard for detail and with an emphasis on texture, form and
color.
Poster and featured artist for many international events, the
multi-award winning artist is the Pebble Beach poster artist for 2006. He is a
long-standing member and is on the Board of Directors of AFAS.
Koka's
original works and prints and posters are collected worldwide. Original
paintings as well as an online catalog of his over one hundred print and poster
editions are featured in two extensive websites located at
www.jaykokastudio.com and
www.autoartprints.com.
